It’s been more than 2 months since we have been under quarantine because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We’ve been through worse.
But now, restrictions have been eased. And, it seems like we are starting to go back to the way things were.
As we transition to the new normal in the next few months, we brought with us some good learnings while we stayed at home.
That’s because we managed to stay productive while under quarantine.
We did things to keep us occupied. We also managed to create new habits and skills.
Here are some of them:
1. We have been working from home

I have been working from home for more than 10 years now. My wife is just starting to do the same and she is loving it.
With this new normal, this may go on for quite a while.
We’re blessed to still be earning income at home during this really hard time.
2. My wife is on her way to become a gardening expert

We now have plants all over the house. My wife talks to them every morning. 🙂
They say it’s good for the health.
It makes our house more lively too.
3. I am a MasterChef in the making

I can’t let my wife do all the cooking at home while we are on quarantine.
Of course, I used this opportunity to learn how she magically produces good food in the kitchen.
I’ve been cooking a lot lately. And, my wife says I’m getting better at it.
I hope so. *crosses fingers*
4. We have been more mindful of our finances

Just when we thought we’d save a lot of money because we are just staying at home, turns out we were wrong.
Grocery expenses have doubled, electricity and water bills have increased.
So, we had to be more mindful of our finances.
We have been discussing budgets and money management for the last few months. We believe it is a healthy discussion that couples should be doing more often.
5. Our dream house is taking shape

Because we have been staying at our new house every single day for the last 2 months, it’s pretty much easy to spot what we lack and what we need.
There are repairs that need to be done here and there, there are appliances we bought, useful household items have been added, etc.
We might not have the budget for everything yet. But, slowly we’re getting to the dream house we’ve been praying for ever since.

6. We continued to keep in touch with people who matter
Thank God for technology family and loved ones are just one call away.
Even at this time of social distancing and quarantine, we made sure to find time to give them a call, ask them how they are and just generally keeping in touch.
New Normal
Things will never be the same again — at least for a while.
We are slowly going back to how things were before the pandemic.
We will definitely remember this time in 2020.
It was a tough one. But, we managed to get by.
And, for both us — we are glad that we did not let this pandemic get the best of us.
We just stayed productive and learned a lot. We hope you did too!
